We’re Only Going For 3 Days….

When the husband and I decided to book a 3 day trip to beautiful Lake George, I immediately started making lists and organizing everything.  I looked up and documented almost every place to eat along the mountain or overlooking the lake, fun and different things to do or interesting places to stop and check out, their hours and anything else you could think of.

Now, when it came to actually packing, well that’s a funny story in itself.

You would have thought I was packing for a large family, instead of just the 2 of us, and that we were staying for much longer than Friday afternoon to some time Sunday.  C’mon, how many of you are with me though?  You have to make sure you pack all the goodies for the sun and hanging by the lake (sunscreen, towels, the right sandals, etc), plus the perfect walking shoes for whatever it is you may be doing, bug spray for those pesky mountain bugs, all the things necessary for a bbq (charcoal briquets, lighter fluid, lighter, paper plates, cups, paper towels, utensils, napkins – because paper towels weren’t enough – aluminum foil, hand wipes, an awesome red & white checkered tablecloth and I’m sure there is plenty more I forgot).

Then there’s the food and snacks because let’s be honest, when you are relaxing you tend to just eat.  Not to mention we also had a 4 – 4 1/2 hour drive each way so I had to make sure we were covered round trip!!!  From everything from pickles for the burgers to Twizzlers and homemade pasta salad to cold cuts, gluten-free bread and a jar of peanut butter that we didn’t even open, the cooler was packed from top to bottom.  Oh and let’s not forget the giant marshmallows, Hershey chocolate bars and graham crackers for delicious S’mores in the fire pit (which have made it safely back home).

What to wear??? I would much rather be safe than sorry, but I do admit to stuffing an obscene amount of bathing suits, leggings, capris, shirts and whatnot into my poor screaming suitcase.  I mean you never know what exactly you’ll be doing while in the mountains, on the lake, what the weather will be like or what could happen to your favorite shirt.

All in all, it’s always best to be prepared.

Now to plan our next adventure. 😉
